Consortium Meetings

Paris - Jan 2010

A meeting was held in January in Paris to chart the progress of the technology demonstrators and to discuss dissemination and licensing opportunities. Partners agreed to prepare videos for MACH2010 and to submit papers to several conferences in the summer. A 3 month project extension was requested to allow these dissemination activities to be carried out.

Bremen - May 2009

Host - ETN

The third year consortium meeting was hosted by ETN in Bremen, Germany. It was attended by all the partners, the project officer and the scientific officer and updates on progress in the workpackages and demonstrators was given. The second day was devoted to break-out groups for the different demonstrator groups. A gender and diversity meeting was also held and a program of actions for the final year of the project was agreed.

Feedback from the commission was positive and possible follow-on projects were discussed.

ETN organised both a visit to their facilities and a walking tour of Bremen concluding with a meal in the Bremer Ratskeller

Wroclaw - November 2008

Host - WUT

An AFFIX consortium meeting was held on 18 November in Wroclaw, Poland. Updates on the laboratory demonstrators and workpackage progress were given. All work streams are on target. WUT then hosted an AFFIX workshop on new alignment and fixturing technologies, in conjunction with the Journal of Machine Engineering

An evening event was held at the Dwor Polski and hosted by WUT.

Trollhattan - June 2008

Host - University West

The mid-term meeting was held at University West on 18 and 19 June 2008, in Trollhattan, Sweden and was attended by all consortium members and by the Scientific Evaluator. A snapshot of the current progress in work packages and demonstrators was given. This was followed by a poster session with posters and other material on display from every technical work stream. Training of consortium partners on the demonstrator hardware was also discussed.

Partners were shown around the University West laboratories. A boat trip on the river was arranged for the partners and dinner was served on the boat.

Paris - January 2008

Host - Jointly arranged by EADS and University of Sheffield

A working meeting was jointly organised by EADS and the University of Sheffield in Paris on 29 January 2008 to facilitate demonstrator group meetings and to share results. Timetables were put in place for the final hardware specifications and hardware procurement.

A dinner was arranged by EADS in a typical local restaurant.

Derby - September 2007

Host - Rolls-Royce UK

Roll-Royce UK hosted a consortium meeting on 27 and 28 September 2007 in Derby. The meeting split into several breakout groups for detailed technical discussion of the laboratory demonstrators. Feedback from each group fed into a general discussion to ensure all industrial requirements were being addressed. Dissemination and technology transfer activities were also discussed.

A dinner was arranged in the hotel for all partners.

Tuscany - June 2007

Host - METEC

The end-of-first-year meeting was hosted by METEC at Scarlino in Italy. Plans for the next 18 months were discussed and a routemap for achieving the deliverables was developed. An overview of the industrial case studies, laboratory demonstrators and work packages and the links between them was also presented.

Venice - March 2007

Host - Electrolux

The AFFIX consortium met in Venice on 29th and 30th March 2008 for a working meeting to discuss the laboratory demonstrators and decide which tasks would feed into which demonstrators. The requirements of each case study were discussed in detail and enabling technologies and technology providers were chosen.

The EU reaction to the first 6 month report singled out the industrial project lead , focussing AFFIX on real case studies, for praise. All tasks are on schedule.

Aachen - January 2007

Host - WZL

The third consortium meeting was hosted by WZL in Aachen on 17 and 18 January 2007. The project officer was present and the project evaluator was introduced to the group. Progress on the industrial case studies was reported; work package leaders also presented brief updates. A working session was held, during which clustering was performed on the case studies to bring out commonalities, identify gaps and assign tasks. It was decided to develop laboratory demonstrators of AFFIX technologies which would feed into the industrial case studies.

Partners were shown around the WZL laboratories. Later, a tour of Aachen was organised and a consortium dinner was arranged.

Toulouse - October 2006

Host - EADS

The second AFFIX meeting was organised by EADS and was held at the Airbus facility near Toulouse in France on 16th and 17th October 2006. The industrial partners presented real-world case-studies which the consortium will work on over the next four years, focussing the basic research on these areas. The new website was unveiled. Technology transfer and Gender Officers were appointed to the board.

Partners were shown around the A380 assembly facility in Airbus. An evening event was organised in the Le Canard Sur Le Toit for networking.

Sheffield - June 2006

Host - University of Sheffield

The kick-off meeting for AFFIX, organised by the University of Sheffield, was held at Whirlowbrook Hall in Sheffield, UK on 26th and 27th June 2006. Prof Ridgway welcomed the partners gave an overview of the projects and its objectives. The EU Scientific Officer was warmly welcomed. Presentations were given by all partners and the action plan for the first year was confirmed. Administrative matters were also discussed.

A dinner was held on the evening of the 26th and provided a good opportunity for partners to forge good working links.
